Cast away headboards are an invitation to re-purpose and restyle. It is hard to resist making them in to benches. Bed boards from old style wood frames make terrific bench seat material.
This is my second headboard bench build. It’s assembled using 1×4 boards, dowels, stabilizing brackets and braces under the seat.
The foot board wasn’t available for use making the front legs so they were purchased at the local home improvement store. Properly sized spindles for a bench, about 18″, are hard to find. These were 23″ and cut down.
As it was being primed, it spoke garden green to me. It needed some dimension so teal glaze was applied to the spindle areas. That was good but still a little plain. White dry brush and sanding added more shabby styling.
FOR SALE $85 – SOLD to a nice lady who enjoyed the stained wood seating.
