Transfer Directly on Wood

A lovely but unloved dresser with a world of possibilities. The plan is to utilize the abundant and gorgeous wood that is still in great shape on the front.

How It Was Done
- Removed the nailed in wood embellishment – I got lucky!
- Remove the old finish on drawer fronts and spindle legs using a 3M pad and Denatured Alcohol
- Primed all other areas using clear Shellac, and not where the transfer is planned.
- Applied transfer directly onto bare wood
- Painted dresser body and top with 2 coats DIY Chalkpaint Rustic Oak, careful to cut in around drawer molding cleanly.
- Seal with 2 applications topcoat, (I use General Finishes High Performance).
- For depth and dimension, wood details are lined with dark wax in and around and a bit on the edges.
- Replaced wood embellishment, broke it then glued it back together on the dresser. My luck must have run out.
